Event: IFB & Quantum talk Big Data in series of Events
15 March 2013
Expert insights into the challenges of managing the explosive growth of large unstructured data will be the focus of an event held by Internet Service Provider IFB (Internet for Business) and Quantum Corporation.
The event will focus on the challenges of Big Data to many businesses across different sectors including Energy, Professional Services and Third Sector, with discussions around the measures that can be put in place to overcome these challenges and how to turn the data into valuable business information. The event is free to attend and will be held on Wednesday 20th March at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Edinburgh from 5pm and Thursday 21st March at the Aberdeen Art Galleries from 6pm. Canapés for the Aberdeen session will be provided by local restaurateur Beetroot.
The Big Data event will bring together experts from IFB and Quantum, Graeme Gordon, CEO of IFB and Laurent Fanichet, Product Marketing Manager for Big Data at Quantum. The key note presentation will be on the topic of ‘Manage, share and archive your assets cost effectively over time with Quantum StorNext®’ and will focus on the explosive data growth of large unstructured data and how to retain the valuable information for years to come at the best possible cost.
Graeme Gordon, CEO at IFB says, “The problem Big Data brings to many organisations is not always about being big. For many businesses, it’s the velocity, variety and fast growing volume of the unstructured data that causes many of these issues. There are real alternatives to storing and backing up this data beyond buying more disc space or tapes.
IFB has been working for some time with Quantum to help businesses understand and develop your short, medium or long term data management strategies beyond just buying more disc space or tapes. Together we provide traditional on site backup and retention through to a fully, scalable, secure and reliable outsourced service delivered with market leading service levels. These events will be a great opportunity to meet with peers and have time to talk to experts about your businesses data management strategy.”
Laurent Fanichet, Product Marketing Manager for Big Data at Quantum says, “Massive data growth is pushing the boundaries of existing storage infrastructures. Understanding the nature of your data, how it is used and the costs to manage and retain that information are all key issues that will drive a sustainable long-term big data storage strategy.”To reserve your place telephone IFB on 01224 333386 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
