Leading IT service supplier Internet for Business (IFB) will be presenting a workshop on the benefits of Cloud computing at the Oil and Gas ICT Leader conference which is taking place on Wednesday 19th March at the Douglas Hotel, Aberdeen.

A host of IT professionals from the oil and gas industry are set to attend the summit about computer network agility which is the first of its kind. IFB will be leading a workshop, entitled ‘Moving business critical services to the Cloud’ which will focus on the services provided by IFB to global shipping energy and services company Craig Group Ltd.

Graeme Gordon, CEO at IFB, says, “When moving to Cloud, everything from the length of time it takes to the cost is unique to each company. However the benefits are always the same – by safely storing data in the Cloud, company data is accessible for all employees, enabling flexible working, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs. At the same time, data is highly secure, protected from virtual or physical attacks. We hope that our workshop will advise people about the benefits that cloud will bring to their company through the work we have done with our existing clients.

“We worked closely with Craig Group to transfer their data away from their internal platform onto one of our secure Cloud platform. We worked with their IT team from design and specification through to testing and implementation and our workshop will detail how the project was successfully managed and give insight to other businesses about the process of migrating business systems onto cloud.”

We are pleased to be able to share our experiences of moving to the Cloud with those in the industry who may be exploring its potential in terms of improving business performance.”

Technology specialists from global companies including Gartner, TAQA and Baker Hughes will be presenting technology insights at the day-long event, which is free to attend for oil and gas employees. The event will focus on ‘mission critical’ IT performance in the oil and gas sector with topics including cloud computing, cyber security, ‘Big Data’, analytics and mobile working.
