16 January 2013

Expert insights into the key technology trends for 2013 will be the focus of an event held by ScotlandIS, in partnership with internet service provider IFB. The technology briefing, which will examine the new technologies emerging and how these will impact upon businesses.

The Tech Trends 2013 briefing will bring together four technology specialists, Richard Marshall, Research Director for mobile and client computing firm Gartner, John Shields, Technical Advisor at Baker Hughes and Robert Gordon University representatives, Ian Allison, Head of School of Computing and Director of the Institute for Innovation, Design and Sustainability, Susan Craw. All four will be discussing the influence technologies such as 4G, Cloud Computing and Social Media will have within businesses over the next few years.

Polly Purvis, Executive Director at ScotlandIS says, “Technology is progressing so rapidly that it can be difficult for business to keep up and also understand how these new developments can be of benefit to operations. Innovation has reached a new level, whereby businesses are now exploring digital oilfields, developing smart energy and the public sector is moving fast too, harnessing the power of digital technology when interacting with people. This, along with recent developments such as sentiment analysis and social media, all of which are becoming more main stream, offer businesses new opportunities and challenges. It is easy to get lost in the crowd, so this is a must attend event to stay ahead of the technology trends for 2013.”

Graeme Gordon, CEO at IFB, says, “We are delighted to be able to sponsor the Tech Trends 2013 briefing event. IFB strives to provide our customers with the most up to date information and understand the issues surrounding technology which can impact your business and by sponsoring this event, it is a perfect opportunity to bring that information to a wider audience.”
